Course synopsis: The American Heart Association (AHA) built this HYBRID course for Healthcare providers who have the need to enhance their skills in the treatment of the pediatric victim of cardiac arrest or other cardiopulmonary emergencies. Constructed by the American Heart Association (AHA). This unique PALS course is composed of two parts.
HeartCode PALS Part 1 is an online comprehensive course purchased for $120, accessed, and completed at http://www.onlineaha.org.
Part two is an instructor-led course review, hands-on skills where students practice and complete various skills, and written evaluation.
Course objective: This course is designed to aid the pediatric healthcare provider in developing the knowledge and skills necessary to efficiently and effectively manage critically ill infants and children, resulting in improved outcomes. Students engage in simulated clinical scenarios that encourage active, hands-on participation through learning stations where students will practice essential skills individually, as part of a team, and as a team leader.
Audience: For pediatricians, emergency physicians, family physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, paramedics, EMT’s, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare providers who initiate and direct advanced life support in pediatric emergencies.
Prerequisites: Students must have completed an American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course to enroll in this refresher course. AHA PALS provider card and online course completion certificate prior to scheduling hands-on review, skills, and written evaluation.
Certification: PALS Provider Course Completion Card valid for 2 years
