Course Synopsis: Designed by the American Heart Association, this course is composed of two parts.
- BLS for Healthcare Providers Online Part One is an online comprehensive course purchased for $22, accessed, and completed at http://www.onlineaha.org.
- Part two is an instructor-led course review, hands-on skills session where students practice and complete various skills, and complete a written evaluation in regards to victims of heart attack and choking.
Course Objectives: This course is designed to teach the skills of CPR for victims of all ages, use of an automated external defibrillator and relief of choking.
Audience: For healthcare providers: EMS personnel, physician assistants, physicians, dentists, dental assistants, nurses, respiratory therapists and others who must have a credential (card) documenting successful completion of a CPR course.
Course Prerequisites: Students must be previously certified with American Heart Association in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers to enroll in this refresher course. AHA BLS provider card and online course completion certificate are required prior to scheduling hands-on review, skills, and written evaluation.
Certification: Students who successfully complete the BLS for Healthcare Providers course will receive a course completion card that is valid for two years.
